A meteorologist turned energy operator who spent eight years building fire-weather and PSPS decision systems at PG&E, helped scale Equilibrium Energy to Series B, and now leads OnPeak’s strategy, customers, and capital.
About OnPeak Intelligence.
We build weather intelligence for critical infrastructure: AI weather modeling, with forward-deployed meteorologists who know your system.
Built for the teams who keep infrastructure running.
OnPeak Intelligence is based in Fort Collins, Colorado. Grids, plants, job sites and data centers all have to act before the weather arrives; we give them a forecast they can act on, and a meteorologist to call.
Why we started.
OnPeak was founded in 2025 by Kevin (Cliff) Clifford and Tyler McCandless. Their starting point: forecasts kept getting better, but operators weren’t making better decisions.
Closing that gap takes three skills that rarely sit in one place: weather and fire modeling, translating weather into business risk, and an expert at the operator’s side when the call gets hard.
Tyler, a PhD atmospheric scientist and NCAR alum, brings the modeling. Cliff spent eight years as a PG&E utility meteorologist building the systems that decided when to cut power ahead of wildfire weather. He then spent years in energy markets and grid software, learning how weather turns into dollars and operating decisions.
OnPeak sits where those three skills meet.

Team.
4 of the 6 of us are degreed meteorologists, marked below.
A PhD atmospheric scientist and NCAR alum who leads OnPeak’s science, building the probabilistic models that show how extreme weather breaks physical infrastructure.
An atmospheric research scientist with experience across national labs, utilities and academia, who develops OnPeak’s models of weather-driven outages and fire-weather risk, and the algorithms that turn those forecasts into utility action.
A McKinsey-trained operator who leads how OnPeak finds and wins utility and data center partners, from the first conversation to a signed deal.
A data scientist who digs through historical weather and outage records to find the patterns behind OnPeak’s forecasts, so every prediction is backed by evidence from real past events.
An engineer who brings grid-software experience from Equilibrium Energy and builds the platform that gets OnPeak’s forecasts to customers at the moment they have to decide.
